Phonology and Morphology
of
Ulu Muar Malay
by
Rufus S. Hendon
This work is an in depth attempt to capture a dialect of Malay in the state of Negri Sembilan before it disappears through the spread of formal education, the influence of the media and increased social mobility. The area was chosen because of the unique Minangkabau culture of the Malay population in the area whose ancestors were from Sumatra. The xvi and 159 pages contain useful tables and a bibliography at the end. Contents include - 1 & 2 Segmental Phonemes, 3 - Morphological Words and 4 & 5 - Nonsegmental Phonemes
