Firth, at the time Professor of Anthropology at the University of London, initially produced a detailed study of the fishing industry in Kelantan state just before the Japanese invasion of Malaysia. He revisited his original research area in 1947 and 1963 to produce this updated version of his classic Amongst the 398 pages are included a fold out map of the area of study, more than 30 black and white plates, a set of 11 appendices at the end of the book and numerous statistical tables.

Condition: Good Hardback. This is an ex-library book with a small label on the spine, and others on the front cover, the inside front and back covers and a pocket on a front end paper. There are stamps on the inside front cover and the contents page. The join between the book and the rear cover has a slit on the inside. The binding is tight and the text clear with mild tanning throughout.
